ARTISTS Anna Netrebko | Mimì
TRACK LISTING PUCCINI: La Bohème
Netrebko and Villazón take ownership of La Bohème In three concert performances in April 2007, Anna Netrebko, Rolando Villazón, Nicole Cabell, Boaz Daniel and conductor Bertrand de Billy generated a special chemistry. This is a cast with youth on its side, so there is real credibility to Puccini’s story of bohemians in Paris. Emotion, spontaneity, intensity: Puccini’s beloved opera demands them all. The audience had the rare chance to experience magic being created; a sensation that has been captured in this live but studio-like recording. Classic FM raved about the performances: ‘We get a Latinate passionate Rodolfo and a more delicately responsive Mimì, who blossoms under the warmth of the other’s yearning into a full declaration of love at the end.’ A release that promises to become a Traviata-like hit, sweeping people away with the sheer verve and passion of the performances. It will appeal to opera lovers as well as a mainstream audience and ties perfectly in with the start of Puccini’s 150th birthday celebrations this year (22 December 1858). The recording is also later to be released as the original soundtrack in conjunction with the La Bohème movie, filmed by Robert Dornhelm in Vienna in February 2008. |

The album also features Slava’s brother Leonard in two double guitar concertos, continuing the creative partnership acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. |
