Universal Music Australia's first classical CD + Cookbook ! Vienna is home not just of the waltz king but also Sachertorte. Not just where Mozart had many of his successes but also the city that founded the now internationally-devoured Wiener Schnitzel. Café Vienna is one of those CDs you can literally "eat". Its temptingly positioned ' Mohr im Hemd' (Chocolate Hazelnut Pudding) on the front cover invites you to a world of mouth-watering (and original) recipes and to a CD packed with Viennese delights. Fittingly, this stunningly-packaged product is released on Deutsche Grammophon - the Rolls Royce of record labels. While the Vienna Philharmonic holds court for the majority of the tracks on this album, we also have the stunning Australian coloratura Amelia Farrugia bringing us Tales from the Vienna Woods, and in the perfect marriage of food and music, there's a recipe for a Trout Quartet and a movement from Schubert's Trout Quintet. The recipe book + music CD formula worked brilliantly for "Hot Food - Cool Jazz" and "Allegro al dente" - and there's no reason why this promotion shouldn't see a similar success. |

TRACK LISTING The Story of Cock Robin? "A little nonsense now and then is relished by the Wisest Men" This record presents us with a rich feast of the nonsensical in word and sound, which should satisfy the appetite of even the wisest among us, young or old. Owen Brannigan, besides having made an enviable reputation as a singer of serious music of every type, has built up a vast public for the radio and television broadcasts and concerts in which he sings folk-songs, North Country ballads and humorous songs of all sorts in an inimitable manner. Here we have this side of Brannigan's art at its best. Besides unaccompanied folk songs, there are orchestral settings of three of Edward Lear's Nonsense Songs , two of Hilaire Belloc's Cautionary Tales and four parodies of the style f Handel to the words of nursery rhymes. Add to these two of Ronald Binge's fantasies on children's songs and two more by Herbert Hughes and Victor Hely-Hutchinson and it will be seen that the menu of our feast is not only rich but varied and unusual. ALSO AVAILABLE The Wonderful World of Nursery Rhymes |

ARTISTS Lang Lang, piano
TRACK LISTING BEETHOVEN: Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 1 in C major, Op. 15 Lang Lang records his first-ever Beethoven album. Lang Lang delivers his first-ever Beethoven recording, a stunning reading of the extensive Concerto No. 4 and the jubilant Concerto No. 1. Even though he has performed this repertoire extensively in concert, Lang Lang waited for the perfect moment and the perfect team to record his first pair of concertos, these milestones of the piano repertoire. When Lang Lang embarked on his international career, Christoph Eschenbach became one of his first and most enthusiastic proponents - and a mentor and close friend ever since, Eschenbach was the ideal collaborator for Lang Lang's first Beethoven recording. Nimbly supported by Eschenbach's superb Orchestre de Paris, with its tradition of having been the first orchestra ever in France to perform music by Beethoven, Lang Lang's performance gives further proof as to why he is one of today's most acclaimed pianists. The product includes a deluxe bonus DVD (approximately 50 minutes) featuring recording session footage and interviews with Lang Lang and Maestro Christoph Eschenbach - also includes a video listening guide in which Lang Lang explains his interpretation of these milestone concertos - a special treat for Lang Lang's fans and a unique chance to understand this great artist's approach to music. |
