TRACKLISTING It wasn't that long ago that Katherine Jenkins was teaching at a public school in Wales. In what seems only a few weeks later, Katherine has performed in front of millions of people at major international events such as Live 8, the VE Day celebrations in Trafalgar Square and at countless rugby games in the UK. She has now established herself as on of the biggest names in classical music. The new album features show-tunes, Welsh songs and famous classical arias. Recorded in Prague, Katherine has been a part of the complete process of the album from arranging through to the mixing. Look for a tour in late 2006.

ARTISTS TRACKLISTING Hayley Westenra has undeniably one of the most beautiful, captivating voices - it is one that immediately grabs you, and one that doesn't leave you. It is difficult to think of an audience that has not responded immediately to Hayley's natural charm and poise. Hayley is also one of Decca's biggest recording successes in recent years. Selling over 2 million copies of her debut album 'Pure', Hayley has then gone on to record a more mature follow up, 'Odyssey'. Now Decca has created a new compilation featuring the best tracks from both her albums 'Pure' and 'Odyssey', simply called 'Hayley Westenra.' This is the perfect album for those who have yet to make their acquaintance with this wonderfully gifted young artist.

SCHUMANN: Overture: Manfred, Op. 115 Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (Wiener Philharmoniker) has long been regarded as one of the world's top orchestras - a reputation it has held for more than 150 years. Its legacy is rich - having performed under such conductors as Otto Nicolai (its founder), Richard Strauss, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Herbert von Karajan and Leonard Bernstein, as well as the five conductors on this 2CD tribute. The program for this CD reflects that of the Orchestra's, on their debut tour of Australia, adding one of the orchestras most vibrant recordings, that of eight Hungarian Dances by Brahms (under the baton of Fritz Reiner). These are now restored after a considerable absence from the Decca catalogue, as is the first release on CD of the Zubin Mehta recording of Schumann's Manfred Overture. In the fascinating liner note, John Kehoe documents the orchestra's rich history and identifies what makes the performances on this CD so special. MARKETING PLANS |

Product Microsite: www.deutschegrammophon.com/domingo-italia ARTISTS TRACKLISTING Plácido Domingo offers an affectionate tribute to Italian and Neapolitan songs. For a declaration of love, it's never too late! Hard to believe, but Plácido Domingo has waited forty years before recording repertoire that is self-evident for a tenor with Mediterranean roots like his. Since Enrico Caruso first sang them, Neapolitan and Italian songs have been known for their potential for tugging the heartstrings. They consist of catchy melodies and melodramatic texts that tell about lovesickness and longing and at the same time celebrate the intensity of life and emotions. On this album, Plácido Domingo has for the most part dedicated himself to the rarities of Neapolitan and Italian songs, although he interprets some of the highlights as well, including Gastaldon's 'Musica Prohibita' and the well-known 'Core n'grato' by Cardillo. All songs are newly arranged and masterly played by Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Eugene Kohn This is a must-have item for all Domingo fans and Italophiles - it's music to cook by, to drive by, to sing by. Although these songs have a huge mainstream potential and are easy to enjoy, singing them requires a mastery of expression and presentation. Almost no other tenor could manage both with such style, and Domingo, who celebrated his 65th birthday this January, remains one of the most admired tenors worldwide. |

ARTISTS TRACKLISTING Philips celebrates Valéry Gergiev's appointment as Principal Conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra with this auspicious release of the complete symphonies of Prokofiev. The 4 CD set contains all 7 symphonies with both the original and revised versions of Symphony No.4. The recordings were made during a critically acclaimed cycle of concerts at London's Barbican Hall in the summer of 2004. 'Valery Gergiev is a born Prokofiev interpreter, and in his series of concerts with the London Symphony Orchestra, playing all seven Prokofiev symphonies, he made the LSO sound like the ideal musicians for this repertoire.' The Guardian 'As with Furtwängler, Gergiev's method may be unconventional but his meaning is perfectly clear. So it was no surprise when the orchestra applauded him as loudly as we did.' The Independent 'The playing was staggering in its virtuosity.' The Guardian Note - Valéry Gergiev appears in Sydney this September with the Vienna Philharmonic, at the Sydney Opera House |

Remarkable for a conductor of his standing, it is only now that Claudio Abbado has conducted the Magic Flute for the first time. With his experience, wisdom and joy of life (since illness more marked than before), he conducts a performance with lightness and magic. An excellent young cast under Claudio Abbado conducting the Mahler Chamber Orchestra includes René Pape as Sarastro, Christoph Strehl as Tamino, Dorothea Röschmann as Pamina and Hanno Müller-Brachmann as Papageno. The queen of the night is interpreted by the excellent Hungarian singer Erika Miklósa. This recording is bound to garner many plaudits, another great performance in the operatic discography of this magnificent conductor. Previous to the recording, Abbado conducted this opera in Baden Baden. The German high profile broadsheets unanimously were raving in utmost praise about these performances. 'Claudio Abbado's Magic Flute sounds like a breath of fresh air... Since his own near-death experience during a grave illness, every piece he conducts has taken on a sense of existential urgency, including the Flute. One has seldom heard the work performed with such a light touch and effortless fluency, with such feeling for dramatic refinement and with the characters so musically alive.' Die Zeit, May 2005 Abbado's Magic Flute is one of the two opera recordings DG delivers to the Mozart year. La Clemenza di Tito under Sir Charles Mackerras with Magdalena Kozená is the second one. With these recordings DG is continuing its highly prestigious series of full opera recordings! |
