Canto (Italian for 'song'), subtitled 'The Spirit of the Voice' is a heart-stopping collection of male vocal ballads featuring the best-loved songs from a 'who's who' of the leading male vocalists of our time.

Russell Watson delivers his majestic Nella Fantasia (based on the ever popular theme from Morricone's score for The Mission) and also sings the Bach/Gounod Ave Maria, then duets with Lionel Richie in The Magic of Love. Two of Alessandro Safina's most popular tracks - Luna and Aria e Memoria - are joined by the magnificent opening track Notturno from his latest album.

Bryn Terfel is inimitable in You'll Never Walk Alone. Dmitri Hvorostovsky, the Russian baritone who beat Bryn to first place in the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition in 1989 sings one of his country's most popular songs, Dark Eyes.

All 'Three Tenors' are represented. Pavarotti by the 'pop' hit Caruso and the Neapolitan song 'O sole mio; Carreras by one of his newest tracks (Pomba Branca) from a forthcoming album; Domingo by a tango from his native Argentina.

A real coup on the album is the final track - You Raise Me Up - with Melbourne-born, Irish-based singer Johnny Logan doing the lead vocals, this being the first ever release of this version with Secret Garden, for which the artists gave special permission for this compilation.

Two young Americans - Josh Groban with his first hit single To Where You Are , and Joshua Payne (who was voted one of of People magazine's   'Sexiest Men Alive' in 2003) - round out the compilation.

And the lavish booklet contains a brief biography of the artists, websites and recommended recordings. Romantic with a Capital R, this is perfect for Mother's Day... but more than that, it's Perennial (with a Capital P)!
