About the Film…
"The champagne wit of Noel Coward’s eighty year old play still fizzes and sparkles in Stephan Elliott’s jaunty adaptation of Easy Virtue."
Screen International

The twenties have roared... the thirties have yet to swing. John Whittaker, a young Englishman, falls madly in love with Larita, a sexy and glamorous American woman, and they marry impetuously. However when they return to his family home, his mother, Mrs Whittaker, has an instant allergic reaction to her new daughter-in-law. Larita tries to fit in but fails to tiptoe through the minefield laid by her mother-in-law. A battle of wits ensues and sparks soon fly. Before long, Mrs. Whittaker’s manipulation starts to work on John and Larita feels their love is in danger of slipping away but she won’t give up without a fight.

About the Soundtrack…
The sparkling and swinging Easy Virtue soundtrack includes 17 tracks taken from the film, all of which have been re-recorded. It features popular hits from the 20s and 30s such as "When You're Smiling" and "Let's Misbehave" as well as modern day tracks such as "Car Wash", "Sex Bomb" and "When the Going gets Tough" (which have been made to sound like they are from the same era). There are several new compositions written by Marius de Vries including a dramatic Tango.

The album was recorded by Marius de Vries, whose credits include Bijork, Madonna, Rufus Wainright, Josh Groban, Annie Lennox, Teddy Thompson and the soundtracks for Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet.

Members of the cast sing on four of the songs: the opening title track "Mad About The Boy" is sung by Jessica Biel. Ben Barnes appears on two Noel Coward songs "A Room With A View" and "I'll See You Again", and Colin Firth joins in with them both for an all star end title track "When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going"

Marius de Vries has assembled a fantastic team of musicians for the album including Dave Rowntree (the drummer from Blur), Mike Smith (keyboard and sax player for the Gorillaz and The Good Bad and The Queen), Chris Storr (Trumpeter for Jools Holland), violin player Sophie Solomon from Oi Va Voi, and internationally renowned pianist, Jim Watson.

THE FILM

Having just received 8 Oscar nominations the film Milk has already garnered a clutch of film awards and nominations for lead actor and director including New York Film Critics Best Picture Award and several BAFTA nominations.

From the acclaimed director Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting and Elephant) comes the powerful and inspiring story of California's first openly gay elected official, Harvey Milk. With a powerhouse performance in the leading role, Sean Penn (Mystic River) and supporting cast Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild), Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men) and James Franco (Spider-Man 1, 2 and 3) bring this unforgettable story to the big screen.

In 1977, Harvey Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, becoming the first openly gay man to be voted into major public office in America. His victory was not just a victory for gay rights; he forged coalitions across the political spectrum. >From senior citizens to union workers, Harvey Milk changed the very nature of what it means to be a fighter for human rights and became, before his untimely death in 1978, a hero for all Americans.
