Katherine Jenkins
TRACK LISTING Rejoice
Katherine Jenkins has sold over a staggering 1.5 million records in the UK. In 2007 Katherine has simultaneously held the No. 1, No. 2 & No. 3 positions in the classical album charts, was the biggest selling classical artist in the UK in 2004, 2005, 2006 and again in 2007 and won the prestigious ‘Album of the Year’ award at the Classical Brits twice in a row in 2005 and 2006. Katherine is a gold selling artist in Australia (Living A Dream - 2006) ‘Rejoice’ – the fifth album of Katherine’s short but phenomenally successful career – features a mixture of love songs and songs of inspiration. “According to letters I’ve had, many people have found that my albums helped them get through some difficult times in their lives and gave them strength when they have needed it,” she adds. “And I want to continue to do that.” Most of the songs are written and produced especially for Katherine by writers with a string of hits to their name – Swedish duo Per and David (Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake), UK hit maker Steve Mac (Westlife, Toni Braxton), pop idol turned songwriter Gary Barlow (Take That, Blue) and Simon Franglen (Celine Dion, Bee Gees). Some highlights of Katherine’s career so far have been performing for Her Majesty the Queen, Prince Philip, the Earl and Countess of Wessex and the Duke of Edinburgh at St James’ Palace. Katherine has performed for the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq over the past 3 years and continues to support the troops abroad. In 2005, Katherine also opened the Tsunami Relief concert in Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium in front of 70,000 people with an emotional performance of Amazing Grace. She then went on to perform at Live 8 in Berlin and the G8 concert in Murrayfield. Katherine is also the Brand Ambassador for Montblanc and will be launching the 'Power to Write' UNICEF and Montblanc campaign in the UK that supports children's literacy projects across the globe to help erase illiteracy. Katherine will be joining 149 international celebrities, who around the world have committed their time. |

ARTISTS Rolando Villaznó, tenor
TRACK LISTING PONCHIELLI: Cielo e mar! (La Gioconda) Exuberant and charismatic, Rolando Villazón is the tenor of today. Here he releases his first solo album on Deutsche Grammophon. The soaring title track from Ponchielli’s La Gioconda inspired Villazón to become a singer. Here it is the starting point for an intriguing album which moves far beyond the usual ‘greatest tenor hits’. Less familiar masterpieces by Boito, Cilea and Verdi feature alongside little-known Donizetti arias and rarities by Gomes, Mercadante and Pietri. The album is Villazón’s personal homage to his illustrious predecessors in the lyric-dramatic repertoire – great tenors such as Bergonzi, Caruso and Domingo. Cielo e mar offers something special for connoisseurs of opera, Villazón’s many fans and mainstream listeners who will be gripped by the beauty of both his voice and the music. |
