TRACKLISTING: A three-time ARIA award-winning artist, Andrea Keller's latest album of dazzling original compositions is set to thrill and mesmerise audiences once again. This album confirms Andrea Keller's place at the forefront of the Australian jazz scene. She says of the album: 'The music on this album was composed in three stages. Prague 10 and The Wolf Pack were composed while I was living in Prague (2002). Upon my return in early 2003 I adopted a compositional approach of giving myself ten minutes in which to write a piece. The House, Resting Place and Tough Guy were the outcome. When sometimes we become what we were born for was inspired by Sheenagh Pugh's poem 'Sometimes' which I received in response to the death of inspirational Sydney/New Zealand pianist/composer Jann Rutherford. Following this, I was commissioned by the Melbourne Women's International Jazz Festival (2003) to premier a set of new music dedicated to Jann. This resulted in the composition of One, One am I, Twenty-ten, Angels and Rascals, Machine Gun Piano and Life that lingers (funded by the Australia Council). The performance of these pieces allowed the quartet to expand to include two outstandingly gifted young musicians, Shannon Barnett and Gian Slater.' MARKETING PLANS |

TRACKLISTING: Brilliant Melbourne-based jazz saxophonist Fiona Burnett's latest album Counterpoint transverses different moods and colours, like light changing on a landscape. This album of largely improvises pieces takes inspiration from Bach in particular, but infused with Fiona's very special touch. She says of the album: 'With counterpoint I set out to make a recording that represented my current musical development and influences as an improvising musician in this place in time. A recording that did not shy away from my own sense of truth and one that was mindful of the current moods that I sensed prevail around me in the world. My concept for this recording was working on a number of different levels from the outset. Therefore the term counterpoint, meaning two or more ideas happening simultaneously appeared to speak volumes about what I had set out to achieve creatively.' MARKETING PLANS |

ARTIST TRACKLISTING A legendary session recorded live at a New York nightclub (and augmented by a few tracks recorded in the studio), Smokin' at the Half Note captures Wes Montgomery at the height of his improvisational powers, backed by a sympathetic and hard-driving rhythm section. Many consider it the best performance on record by one of the most inventive guitarists in jazz history. This reissue includes several tracks left off the original LP, four of which were later released on the Grammy-winning Willow Weep for Me with overdubbed strings and brass but are here restored to their bare-bones glory - pure, straight-ahead, unadulterated Wes Montgomery. |
