The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards are a cavalry regiment of the British Army, and the senior Scottish regiment. The regiment has its own Pipes and Drums Band, who tour widely and perform in competitions, concerts and parades.

The pipers of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards are all full time soldiers with operational commitments, so it seemed fitting to partly record some of the album from the British Army Central Operations Base at Basra airport in Iraq.

The bagpipes, often associated with the hills and mountains of Scotland were not designed to be played in a tent at 55 degrees Celsius, they were as far from home as the men playing them. A longing for home, for families not seen in months, or fallen friends made this a very special recording and is sure to move all who hear it.

You can watch a clip of the Basra recording sessions here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zFReeDI6WY

With sales of nearly 12,000 units of their album “Journey”, a fast-selling tour, and a televised broadcast of the 2010 Edinburgh Military Tattoo (4, 5, 6, 7 February) and with over 1500 performers from around the world playing to capacity audiences (a staggering 100,000), this promises to be one of the biggest events of 2010 and has a dedicated and loyal following.

The inspirational, anthemic music on this album includes the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards’ biggest original hit – their 1972 version of “Amazing Grace” reached No. 1 in the Australian, Canadian and British pop charts.

This compilation includes both, their hits as well as new tracks. Their previous album, Spirit of the Glen “Journey” won the 2009 Classical Brit Awards for Album of the Year.

Most of all, they’ll be IN AUSTRALIA! A perfect opportunity to capitalize on a great promotional opportunity.
