Gidon Kremer & Kremerata Baltica
presented by Musica Viva

Musica Viva is thrilled to welcome Gidon Kremer, one of the world’s greatest violinists, back to Australia for the first time since 1986, accompanied by Kremerata Baltica in its premiere Australian appearance.

In celebration of his 50th birthday, Kremer launched his own chamber orchestra, Kremerata Baltica, hand-picked from the most promising young musicians in the Baltic States. ‘You always hear in his playing – as well as all the apparent effortlessness and facility – the way he’s irresistibly attracted by risk and danger. Sticking to the safety of well-trodden paths doesn’t seem to interest him’ Nikolaus Harnoncourt

Always an explorer among today’s virtuoso violinists, Gidon Kremer presents a personal selection of some of his greatest Deutsche Grammophon recordings, displaying the full range of his repertoire and tastes, and paying tribute at the same time to the musical partners of a lifetime – to Martha Argerich, Leonard Bernstein, Tatiana Grindenko, Mischa Maisky and Oleg Maisenberg, among others, and above all, to his own creation, Kremerata Baltica, who perform with unrivalled virtuosity in three unforgettable bonus tracks.
