The world renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli went home for a unique event in his native Tuscany on July 5 2007. For the first time, this worldwide superstar performed all his most popular romantic songs and pop standards in one concert – a curtain-raiser for his recent album of greatest hits ‘Vivere’. The line-up of world-class artists who join Bocelli at Il Teatro del Silenzio in Lajatico, Italy, includes: • Sarah Brightman, the internationally popular vocalist; In addition, the concert reunites Andrea Bocelli with David Foster, the 14 times Grammy Award winner and producer of the singer’s 2006 multi-platinum album, Amore. Foster has worked with many other global superstars in his career including John Lennon, Celine Dion, Barbara Streisand and Michael Jackson, and he led the proceedings for this spectacular event, taking control of the musical production. It was produced for broadcast by David Horn, a leader in cultural and arts programming whose Emmy-nominated work includes Andrea Bocelli: Sacred Arias and the live telecast of American Dream: Andrea Bocelli’s Statue of Liberty Concert. Il Teatro del Silenzio is an outdoor theatre built outside the Tuscan village of Lajatico, near Pisa. Andrea Bocelli was born in Lajatico, and his family still farms nearby. It is intended that for one night in July each year, a special concert will take place. The rest of the year, the theatre will be silent. This year’s concert marked the 10th anniversary of the release of ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ (Con Te Partiro), the romantic Italian duet featuring Bocelli and Brightman, which became a multi-million-selling single around the world and elevated both performers to new levels of international popularity. Since 1994, Bocelli’s recordings of popular and classical repertoire for Sugar Music/Universal Music have sold an estimated 60 million albums. A unique collection of his greatest pop hits was released worldwide in October this year. |
