ANDRÉ RIEU | André Rieu in Wonderland
TRACK LISTING 1. Also sprach Zarathustra
Once upon a time… André Rieu writes: As a child I had only to hear these magical words and I would find myself transported to the land of fairy-tales. I would dream of a beautiful princess with long, golden curls and myself as the prince waiting to carry her off on his white horse, away to his castle. Fairy-tales… even the word is magical, and even for us adults it calls up a world in which you can float away on romantic dreams. I let this be my inspiration for this new CD. Together with my wife Marjorie, I have searched out the most beautiful fairy-tale music for you from all over the world. So come with me to Fairy-tale Land, gently close your eyes and dream of princes and princesses, shimmering castles in the sky and strange and wonderful things. Enjoy the lovely music, and may you live happily ever after! With love from André Rieu |

RENÉE FLEMING · ROLANDO VILLÁZON | VERDI: La Traviata
Renée Fleming | Violetta
TRACK LISTING VERDI: La Traviata Two of opera’s biggest stars, Renée Fleming and Rolando Villazón, sing one of the world’s best-loved operas together on DVD, in the sumptuous Los Angeles production of Verdi's tragic masterpiece, La Traviata. Fleming sings Violetta on DVD for the first time. Villazón is the perfect dramatic partner. The lavish, traditional large-scale production, directed by Marta Domingo, has all the glamour one has come to expect from a period production. Beautiful sets and costumes add to the spectacle. Veteran Verdi baritone Renato Bruson sings the role of Alfredo's father, Germont. 'Violetta has lately become one of Fleming's signature roles, and she acted the part as compellingly as she sang it, which was warmly, with sparkling top notes and an ease with the vocal line that any singer would envy.' HERBERT VON KARAJAN | TCHAIKOVSKY: Symphonies Nos. 4, 5 & 6 Series Microsite ARTISTS Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra
TRACK LISTING TCHAIKOVSKY: Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op.36 The Symphonies were recorded live with a special recording concept by Herbert von Karajan, and he did not only direct the filming, but also closely followed the editing and mastering of the symphonies. Karajan’s mid-1970s Tchaikovsky interpretations are regarded as his finest in a career of performing the Russian composer’s last three symphonies. Unitel’s films from this period documented the maestro with his great Berlin orchestra on 35mm colour film and in stereo. The Symphony No. 4 was recorded live at the Berlin Philharmonie in 1974 conducted by Karajan ‘Others have gotten more sadness out of Tchaikovsky… but not more virility and controlled intense beauty than Karajan in the Unitel films.’ New York Times |

VALERY GERGIEV | TCHAIKOVSKY: The Nutcracker
ARTISTS Mariinsky
TRACK LISTING TCHAIKOVSKY: The Nutcracker A magical new version of a much loved classic, filmed in The Mariinsky Theatre St.Petersburg where it was first performed in 1892. Following Decca's beautiful Swan Lake comes another outstanding production on DVD from the Mariinsky, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, yet a Nutcracker with a twist. Two of the Mariinsky's young stars, Leonid Sarafanov and Irina Golub, dance the main roles. Despite the startling aspects of this production, none of the spectacle and awe-inspiring quality of their dancing is lost. Valery Gergiev conducts a complete and un-cut version of Tchaikovsky's popular and much-loved score. |
