Hugh Jackman makes his Broadway debut in The Boy From Oz, the dazzling, funny and heart-breaking story of Australia's own entertainer and songwriter Peter Allen. Beginning his singing career in country pubs at the age 11, Peter Allen survived a family tragedy to become an Australian TV star at age 16. Discovered by the great Judy Garland, Peter married her daughter Liza Minnelli and went on to be a beloved performer and an Oscar-winning songwriter.
Hugh Jackman is better know to the world as Wolverine from the Hollywood blockbuster films X-Men, X-Men 2 & X-Men The Last Stand. He has also received critical acclaim for his roles in Swordfish and Kate & Leopold.
Australian audiences are aware of Jackman's stage talents after the award winning performance in Oklahoma! and his work in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Blvd.
Joining Jackman in The Boy from Oz is Jarrod Emick (Tony Award Winner for Damn Yankees), Isabel Keating (Helen Hayes Award Winner for Indian Ink) and Michael Mulheren.
The Boy From Oz features over twenty of Peter Allen's hit songs, including I Go To Rio, Between The Moon And New York City, Arthur's Theme, Don't Cry Out Loud and Australia's favourite I Still Call Australia Home. Writing collaborations include Burt Bacharach, Jeff Barry, Christopher Cross and Carol Bayer Sager.
The Boy From Oz is Hugh Jackman's first release on Decca Broadway.
