Soul deep Brit James Hunter - who possesses a "tight, slithery soul groove" and a "sweet growl" (NY Times), is making his way to Australia this April to perform at the Bluesfest and Sydney’s The Vanguard.  To celebrate his arrival, we are releasing a very special tour edition of ‘The Hard Way’.  Tour edition includes the current CD and comes with a bonus DVD of 5 live performances including ‘Carina’, and ‘The Hard Way’.

Hunter is an Essex born retro/pop/soul artist with an extraordinary soul voice.  Think Sam Cooke, think Jackie Wilson and Hunter is your modern day equivalent.  The Hard Way is his 2nd album release, but his first under the Hear Music/Concord label.  His previous album “People Are Gonna Talk’ was released in 2006 by Rounder Records and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album.

Hunter has been a musician for the last 20 years touring with his own band as well as back up singing for the likes of Van Morrison in the 90s.  Since his first album release Hunter and his band have toured extensively from hole-in-wall clubs to the Hollywood Bowl; they have headlined in small venues and supported the likes of Aretha Franklin, Los Lonely Boys, Box Scaggs and Van Morrison.

With his arrival in Australia in April, and the tour edition release of The Hard Way, Hunter is one to watch in as Australians are exposed to a truly remarkable artist.

'The Hard Way' was produced by Liam Watson (The White Stripes) at famed analogue haven Toe Rag Studios in London. The instrumental palette is rich and the arrangements sharpened for 'The Hard Way.' Allen Toussaint joins Hunter on the sultry "Til The End," the rhumba "Believe Me Baby," and the title track. The gorgeous Echo Strings buoy "The Hard Way" and the romantic "Carina," with accompanying pedal steel. The jumping "Don't Do Me No Favours" is designed for the dance floor.  This album is a joy to experience.
