After a career of more than thirty years, Salif Keita is releasing his first official DVD, Moffou Dia, a realization of the success of his Moffou album, this time in video.

The singer from Mali has sold more than 200.000 albums of Moffou , his last opus. The album earned him a Grammy Awards nomination in the Best World Music Album category, and its music was revisited by one of the best DJ-producers, Martin Solveig, whose remixed version of 'Madan' has been played on all the dance floors of the planet, and today features on more than 60 compilations worldwide.

Now, two years later, Moffou Dia ('Moffou in pictures') can be seen as a genuine video interpretation of Salif's last album. The DVD features all the album's titles - except ' Yamoré' which already exists as a clip - and three classics by Salif, 'Soumou' , 'Nyanafin' and 'Tekere'. Filmed over twelve days in Mali, this DVD contains twelve clips that respect the pure African visual tradition of music, even with a more modern directing technique and superior quality and production.

This return to his roots in video, in essence a work aimed at the African market, also has another advantage: keeping his admirers worldwide patient until the release of his next album, in autumn 2005.

Roberto Alagna and Angela Gheorghiu appeared together in L'elisir d'amore at the Lyon National Opera for just two performances -- staged specially to facilitate this recording for DVD, directed for the small screen by Brian Large. Opera's most celebrated couple captivated the audience, perfectly cast as the true-hearted peasant Nemorino and the rich, beautiful and coquettish Adina, whose love he finally wins. Their exceptional interpretations were complemented by those of Simone Alaimo as Dulcamara and Roberto Scaltriti as Belcore. Delighted applause greeted musical high spots throughout the opera, with Alagna's rendition of the celebrated romance 'Una furtive lagrima' sparking off a thunderous ovation.

As tender and charming as it is jolly and amusing, L'elisir d'amore tells how Nemorino tries to win the love of Adina by taking a love potion - which, in reality, is no more mysterious a liquor than red wine. Frank Dunlop's uncomplicated and lively Lyon staging is set in southern Italy in the 1930s, with sun-drenched scenery by Roberto Platé and fresh, unsophisticated costumes by Jacques Schmidt and Emmanuel Peduzzi. Conductor Evelino Pidò's study of the manuscript of Donizetti's original and revised score for L'elisir d'amore reveals many subtleties in the charming and melodic music for this classic of sentimental comedy.

This definitive performance on DVD is now made even more special with the additional bonus of a highlights CD, featuring many of the wonderful moments from this lovely performance.
